This is the place where notes on using the python suite shall appear one day.
If you happen to have a PC that runs m$ windows and you are happy with python 2.6 then these downloads should work for you: python 2.6, numpy 1.6, scipy 0.11, matplotlib 1.1.0, wxPython 2.8, wxPython 2.8 docs, demo, samples, etc. All packages but the python are provided by the sourceforge.net which shows you some adverts before starting the download, please be patient. After installing the python (and rebooting the computer if it demands), the order of installation of the rest of packages is arbitrary.
Alternatively all the above plus many extra tools can be installed as a single Windows package, Winpython. There are both 32 and 64 bit versions.
Once all installed, unpack py_suite.zip and have fun. Typically the root folder of the suite hosts all the scripts you write. The suite provides '_spe' and 'lib' which contain a modified version of Stani's Python Editor and the libraries developed for evaluating experiments on the ULT fridge.
The included modified version of Stani's Python is tailored to work if the root folder of the suite is 'C:\Py' (under Windows). The root folder of the suite contains 'Stani's Python Editor.lnk' which is a shortcut that can be used to launch the editor. You can add it to the "Start" menu or desktop.
If you use a different root folder, the destination of the shortcat should be edited as well as the file '...\_spe\startup.py'.
